‘CSI’ Finale Promises ‘Pivotal’ Moment, Plus Quotes & Pics

3 min read

As CSI Files previously reported, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will come to an end with a two-hour TV movie scheduled to air on Sunday, September 27. The series finale will feature the return of Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) and William Petersen (Gil Grissom), and according to TV Line, there will be a “significant time jump” between the end of season 15 and the start of the TV movie.

You can find the full question and answer after the jump, which contains spoilers about a “pivotal” moment that will occur in the series finale. There are also quotes from Helgenberger about CSI, along with several tweets and photos!

First, here are the spoilers from TV Line:

Question: Hey, Aus. Big Fan. Any inside scoop on the CSI finale movie? —Brandon

Ausiello: Hey, Bran. Rumor has it the show’s two-hour Sept. 27 swan song will kick off with a significant time jump — we’re talking roughly six months. I’m also hearing there’s a pivotal death.

Helgenberger did an interview with Parade, in which she discussed the CSI finale as well as her upcoming role on Under the Dome. Here’s a quote:

You will be going back to CSI for the series finale on Sept. 27. Are you looking forward to it?

I’m excited to get back in the ring with Billy Petersen [Gil Grissom]. We had such a great working relationship. I don’t know any details because it hasn’t been written yet, but I am hoping this will be a nice, proper sendoff—not only for the show itself, but for the fans.

This quote from Helgenberger is from Fox News:

I adore Billy. We had such a great working relationship, so that’ll be a lot of fun. When he left the show, I just sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. I was so upset, but I understood why he wanted to leave. But now I’m looking forward to working with him — and everybody else, too — Jorja [Fox], George [Eads] and Eric [Szmanda]… I’m hoping that this will be a really nice, proper send off, not only for the show itself, but for the fans.

Helgenberger also spoke to TV Insider, and here’s an excerpt:

And of course, there’s the two-hour movie finale for the CSI mother ship coming up this fall, right?

Yes! I had dinner with [CSI costar] Jorja Fox the other night. I don’t know what the story is yet, but they’re going to pull out all the stops for the end, I’m sure. The fact that Billy [Petersen] agreed to come back is a big one. He doesn’t like to work that much! [Laughs]

How did you feel when you heard the show was coming to an end after 15 years?

When it was canceled, of course I felt bad for everyone who was still with the show, because I know how I felt leaving it…and I left on my own! I was emotionally distraught. Even three years away from the show, it was sad [to hear of the cancellation]. It feels like the end of an era.
