Next up, two CSI executive producers offer some insight into the confrontation between Dr Ray Langston (Laurence Fishburne) and serial killer Nate Haskell (Bill Irwin). (Minor spoilers after the jump!)

In “Cello and Goodbye”, Haskell kidnapped Langston’s ex-wife Gloria (Tracee Ellis Ross). Langston came face to face with Haskell at the end of the episode, and the finale finds the pair facing off in Haskell’s childhood home. Haskell hopes to show Langston just how much they have in common. “Haskell and Langston are reflections of each other, at least in Haskell’s mind,” executive producer Carol Mendelsohn told TV Guide. “Langston does share a similar background in terms of having an abusive father, growing up in an abusive household. Haskell wants his reflection, his alter ego, to come out and play.”

Blood will be spilled before all is said and done; if Langston survives “In a Dark, Dark House”, he might be a different man. “If you dance the devil, if you flirt with a dark side, evil has a way of taking control of you,” explained executive producer Don McGill. “If you unleash the beast, can you put that beast back in the bottle?”
