It was devastating news for the actress and fans alike as just prior to the dismissal, progress was being made between the D.N.A. technician and her co-worker and potential love interest David Hodges (Wallace Langham). For the first time since the unsettling news, Vassey spoke exclusively with CSI Files’ Shane Saunders to discuss the events of the past year.

Petersen Performs ‘The March’ With Steppenwolf
Saturday, March 5th, 2011Former CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star William Petersen (Gil Grissom) will join a group of Steppenwolf ensemble members in a production of The March from April 4-June 10, 2012. The play is a stage adaptation of EL Doctorow’s novel, which was written and directed by Frank Galati. According to Steppenwolf:
General William Tecumseh Sherman, Uncle Billy to his men, marches 62,000 Union soldiers through lush Georgia countryside. Bearing along both black and white refugees, the march destroys everything in its path, turning home into exile and exile into home. Its epic force forever changes the lives of those caught up in its sweep: a liberated slave, a sheltered daughter of a Southern judge, a pair of Confederate deserters and Uncle Billy himself.
The March is a story of momentous upheaval and the limits of courage and love.

It was the “perfect story” to feature Grissom, executive producer Carol Mendelsohn told TV Guide, and Petersen’s onscreen wife Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) convinced him to come back and film a scene. Grissom spoke to his wife and mother (played by Phyllis Frelich) over Skype, and the character suggested that the three of them should have dinner together soon. “We haven’t written the dinner scene yet,” Mendelsohn said, but she didn’t rule out the possibility of Petersen returning to do another guest appearance. “As long as there is a CSI, there will be a Gil Grissom.”
