Kanakaredes To Attend Premiere Of ‘Lightning’ Billboard

Monday, October 26th, 2009

As CSI Files previously reported, CSI: New York star Melina Kanakaredes (Stella Bonasera) will play the goddess Athena in the upcoming film Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. On Wednesday, October 28, Kanakaredes will be on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, California for the premiere of a unique billboard to promote the movie. The “Lightning Billboard” will emit 1.2 million volts of pure lightning using a transformer that was invented 100 years ago by one of the scientists who contributed to the birth of commercial electricity, Nikola Tesla.

Lightning is a key plot point in Percy Jackson. The title character (played by Logan Lerman) is the demigod son of Poseidon (Kevin McKidd). He is accused of stealing the most powerful weapon in the universe: Zeus’s (Sean Bean) lightning bolt. Percy embarks on a journey to find the real thief in order to clear his name and prevent a war among the gods.

Fans are invited to attend the lighting of the billboard and meet the cast. A trailer for The Lightning Thief can be seen after the jump:
