Criminal Minds has the first new episode of 2017 on the schedule tonight. Here’s a sneak peek from “Profiling 202”, featuring David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), JJ Jareau (AJ Cook), Dr Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler) and guest star Madonna Magee (Mae Wilson). CBS shared an extended preview from the episode, which you can watch here. It features Rossi, Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), newcomer Damon Gupton (Stephen Walker) and guest stars Pooch Hall (Clark) and Ashwin Gore (Larabee).

Gupton spoke to TV Guide about joining the team, including this quote about Walker’s past with Rossi and his knowledge of the Yates case:

Rossi was his teacher at the academy. He taught a profiling course and he thought Stephen was a very talented profiler, so he’s thrilled to see him join the team finally. I think he’s learning about Yates as he goes. It’s a certain case he may have been briefed on at some point [by Rossi] back when, but not to the extent to being fully with the BAU.
