Ward & Reiter Share Their Thoughts On The ‘CSI:NY’ Finale

1 min read

The seventh season of CSI: New York is winding down, and the show’s future remains uncertain. Co-executive producer Zachary Reiter and series star Sela Ward (Jo Danville) offer some insight into what fans can expect in the season (or perhaps series) finale. (Minor spoilers after the jump!)

New York won’t end season seven with a traditional cliffhanger. “It’s really more of an ambiguous attempt to leave everybody… [wondering,] ‘Is the show going to get picked up or not?’ It’s a non-committal final show,” Ward told TV Guide. She added that leading man Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) will have to choose whether or not he wants to continue his work as a CSI. “Maybe he’s done because of something that happens in the show that’s very traumatic,” she explained.

Reiter told E! Online that the final episode could provide a fitting ending for the series in the event that the network chooses not to renew it for an eighth season. “Should we find ourselves in a position where we don’t come back, the episode—and it’s part of the reason everybody on the staff is proud of it—will feel like an appropriate sendoff, should it end up being a series finale,” Reiter revealed.
