Ward & Elliott Preview The Latest ‘New York’ Episode

2 min read

CSI: New York brings back Jo Danville’s (Sela Ward) ex-husband Russ Josephson (David James Elliott) and adopted daughter Ellie (Sydney Park) in this week’s episode, “Identity Crisis”, and fans will meet Jo and Russ’s son Tyler (Cody Longo) for the first time. (Minor spoilers after the jump!)

“Identity Crisis” becomes a family affair for Jo when her daughter witnesses a murder on the subway. “It’s an emotional episode,” Ward explained to TV Line. “Jo has told Ellie she was adopted without going into any details, as she’d actually put the girl’s birth mother away for life, for a murder. So Ellie skips school to go find her mom and ended up on a train in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Russ and Tyler are having lunch with Jo when she gets the news that Ellie saw someone get killed. As an FBI agent, Russ is able to help with the investigation. “The murder dovetails certain characters that the FBI has on their database,” Elliott revealed. “Jo and the NYPD access info through Russ, and he helps a little bit—just as he did the first time around [in “To What End?”].”

Is there a chance Jo and Russ could get back together? “There’s certainly still something there for Russ, but there is a wall that needs to be scaled first,” Elliott explained. “I don’t know if Russ gets there, but we’re teasing it.” Ward added, “It’s a nice connection, but Jo is still conflicted about it. She is still very much attracted to him.”
