‘Miami’ Takes Bullying To An ‘Extreme Level’

1 min read

The newest CSI: Miami blog entry on CBS.com discusses the bullying at the center of the latest episode, “Stoned Cold”. (Episode spoilers after the jump!)

Bullying has been in the news a lot lately, and “Stoned Cold” was Miami’s take on the issue. In the episode, a girl named Blaire terrorized the other students in her high school and drove several parents to commit murder. “We wanted to try to be unique,” explained episode writer Tamara Jaron, “but also take it to that extreme level where the bullying was so bad someone would kill over it.”

“At the beginning, when you see her tied up you aren’t sure what’s happening,” Jaron said. By the end of the episode, however, the audience sees the way Blaire treated Megan and Nate, and their parents’ actions are explained. Jaron added, “You definitely want to see them kill her.”

Miami wasn’t trying to send a message with the episode. “It’s more just showing how rough it is for kids sometimes,” Jaron said. “At its heart it’s more about what a parent is willing to do for his or her child.”
