Caruso Calls ‘Miami’ A ‘Perfect Storm Of Personalities’

2 min read

CSI: Miami’s leading man David Caruso (Horatio Caine) is grateful for his role in the long-running crime drama, and he doesn’t see the series ending any time soon.

Caruso said he’s been “extremely fortunate” to have the opportunity to work on Miami. “Every once in a while, a show will get lucky and have a cast that just kind of blends together,” the actor told the Vancouver Sun. “You can’t anticipate that, you really can’t. We’re fortunate. We’re just that perfect storm of personalities, where everything goes into the show and there’s not a lot of energy going into individual egos or things that have nothing to do with the show.”

Horatio Caine’s signature sunglasses have become a recognizable trademark of the series “It’s kind of ironic that—these are my personal sunglasses—the ones that I wear on the show, and this is amazing to me, have been discontinued,” Caruso explained. “Seriously, the company has stopped making them. We’re like, ‘Really?’ So we had to rush out and get them before they disappeared completely. They made 280 pairs for us.”

Caruso is confident that Horatio and his trademark shades will continue to entertain fans for a long time. “I feel like there’s more to come,” he said. “It’s 10 years later, and we’re still learning more about these characters. The characters can continue to grow; that’s the fun of television.”
