The Visual Effects Society (VES) announced the nominees for the 8th Annual VES Awards, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was recognized in two categories for the opening scene of the season ten premiere, “Family Affair”: “Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Broadcast Program” (Sabrina Arnold, VFX Producer; Steve Meyer, Compositor; Rik Shorten, VFX Supervisor; Derek Smith, Compositor) and “Outstanding Compositing in a Broadcast Program or Commercial” (Steve Meyer, VFX Supervisor; Derek Smith, Compositor; Christina Spring, Compositor; Zach Zaubi, Compositor).

“The Visual Effects Society is proud to present these nominations as the most outstanding work in the field this year,” said VES Chair Jeffrey A Okun. “It’s important to keep in mind that it wasn’t machines that created these images but incredibly talented artists. We congratulate them all and look forward to seeing who is chosen as the best of the best at the awards show in February.”

The ceremony will take place on February 28 in Los Angeles, California.
