British CSI fans will soon be able to expand on their forensic knowledge while at the same time building their CSI DVD collection

GE Fabbri, a British publisher of official collectable magazines for shows such as Star Trek: The Next Generation and Stargate SG-1, recently announced that they've expanded their portfolio with a magazine series dedicated exclusively to the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation series. The magazine is called CSI: The Official DVD Collection, and includes a DVD with each issue featuring two CSI episodes. The first issue, which is now available for a special introductory price of £3.99, includes the "Pilot" and "Cool Change"; future issues will cost £7.99 and will carry the magazine up to at least the show's third season.

In addition to the DVDs, the magazines will also include background articles on all aspects of forensic science, often written by the same people who work as consultants on the actual CSI shows. Each issue will feature an article on a specific forensic procedure used by the CSI team; an article on the "criminal mind," exploring the psychology of wrong-doers; and an article about the scientific instruments used by the CSIs, such as ALS light and UV cameras. Several articles will tie in with the episodes included on the DVD, such as the "Case Archive" series, in which the consultants provide background information on each episode's setting, and 'Crime Scene Analysis,' featuring a step-by-step guide of how the CSI team reached their conclusions.

Finally, each issue will include interviews with the stars and creators of the Las Vegas CSI show. To kick off this interview series, the first edition includes an interview with William Petersen (Gil Grissom), an excerpt of which is provided on the show's web site. "I’d like to see [Grissom] teaching at Stanford University, and just be sort of semi-retired," is the intriguing answer Petersen provided when he was asked where he'd like to see his character go. "I’d like to see him in retirement some day… obviously he’s going to have to run the lab for a while. After that, I don’t know. I would imagine he would like a nice fellowship somewhere!"

Unfortunately for fans living outside Brittain, CSI: The Official DVD Collection is only available in the UK and Ireland. British fans should now be able to buy the magazine in stores, while they can also subscribe for a four-weekly price of £15.98. As a subscription gift, they will be provided with a miniature digital camera, a CSI Collector's Edition Binder to store their magazines, and a metal display case to store their DVDs.

More information on the magazine can be found on GE Fabbri's official web site. Even if you're American, the web site should prove interesting, as it also includes the full text of the interview with William Petersen. Thanks go out to Andy Rowe for this!

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
