15 min read

CBS has announced that the planted Criminal Minds spinoff, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, has been picked up for the 2015-2016 season. Gary Sinise (Jack Garrett), Daniel Henney (Matthew Simmons) and Tyler James Williams (Russ “Monty” Montgomery) are listed under the show’s cast, but Anna Gunn (Lily Lambert) is rumored to be leaving the project. CBS also picked up a drama series called Limitless, which includes Sinise’s former CSI: New York costar Hill Harper (Dr Sheldon Hawkes) in the cast. (For more about Limitless, click the previous link.)

In total, the network has already ordered five new dramas and two new comedies for the fall; fans are still waiting for an announcement regarding the future of the original Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Cyber, NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. (NCIS: New Orleans was renewed for a second season back in January.)

After the jump, you can find a collection of Criminal Minds, NCIS, NCIS: LA and NCIS: NOLA news and spoilers that have been shared over the past month. (Contains 120+ embedded videos, tweets and photos.)

Criminal Minds

Entertainment Weekly answered this question about the show, relating to the exit of Jennifer Love Hewitt (Kate Callahan) and AJ Cook’s pregnancy:

I’m sad to hear Jennifer Love Hewitt won’t be back on Criminal Minds, but what does this mean for A.J. Cook, who is also pregnant? — Joshua

She’s sticking around, as I mentioned in my postmortem. However, since the show is scheduled to go back into production around the time she’s due, you may not see her when the show returns. Revealing Cook’s pregnancy in the finale “helps us answer why she’s likely not in the first episode or so,” says EP Erica Messer. “We laid the groundwork for it, and then we can remind everybody in the premiere that she’s on maternity leave.”

For the tenth year in a row, Sinise and Joe Mantegna (David Rossi) will co-host the National Memorial Day Concert live on PBS. The concert airs Sunday, May 24 at 8:00pm ET. (Check your local listings.) Here’s a tweet from Mantegna:

Here’s a question from TV Line:

Question: Any info on Criminal Minds’ Reid? —Emilie

Ausiello: If you were hoping that Reid might finally be ready to move on from Maeve’s Season 8 death — with either forensic scientist Dylan Einstein (played in a February episode by Candace Hammer) or Agent Dorian Loker (recent guest star Emily Churchill) — showrunner Erica Messer notes that the remainder of Season 10 was already plotted out at the time those potential pairings aired. As such, “It’s something that we can explore next season,” she allows.

Relating to the above question, Messer told TV Guide there were no concrete plans to give Dr Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) a serious romance during season eleven. However, she added, “we will probably discuss it and figure it out at some point next season.”

Here’s a video from CBS Watch! Magazine. It is narrated by NCIS’s Michael Weatherly (Tony DiNozzo) and features glimpses of various CBS stars. The list includes AJ Cook (JJ Jareau) and Gubler from Minds; Weatherly and his NCIS costars Pauley Perrette (Abby Sciuto), Brian Dietzen (Jimmy Palmer) and Emily Wickersham (Ellie Bishop); and NCIS: LA’s LL Cool J (Sam Hanna):

Here’s a question from TV Line that also relates to next season:

Question: Will the audience ever find out what is in the box that Deeks opened on NCIS: LA? I’m dying to find out what “everything he ever wanted” actually means. —Leah-Margaret

Ausiello: I’m going to farm this one out to exec producer Shane Brennan, if that’s cool with you Lea-Margaret. “The mystery of what’s in the box will be revisited next season,” confirms the EP, before cryptically adding, “Will we find out what’s in it? Maybe….”
