Actor Liev Schreiber boasts an impressive array of acting credits, but didnt have any television credits to his name prior to his recent guest stint on CSI. The second installment of his four episode arc aired this week.
The Yale School of Drama graduate won a Tony Award in 2005 for his work in the Broadway revival of David Mamets Glengarry Glen Ross. He will soon return to Broadway for a revival of Eric Bogosians Talk Radio. Quite the theater star, Schreiber was called the foremost Shakespearean actor of his generation in America in a New York Times review last year.
According to CSI executive producer Carol Mendelsohn, it took many, many months of persuasion to convince Schreiber to play the part of Michael Keppler. However, she thought it was more than worth the effort to bring his intelligence and sex appeal to the show. Having Live here, given his whole pedigree and background, youre on your best behavior and bring youre a-plus game. It was exhilarating and thrilling, she said.
Schreiber faced an unexpected challenge while working on CSI. Try getting latex gloves on and off in under 70 seconds, he said. Im supposed to look like Ive been doing it for years. So I would go home and practice.
