{"id":7430,"date":"2009-09-15T00:44:58","date_gmt":"2009-09-15T07:44:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.csifiles.com\/content\/?p=7430"},"modified":"2009-09-15T00:45:46","modified_gmt":"2009-09-15T07:45:46","slug":"kanakaredes-reminisces-about-guiding-light","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.csifiles.com\/content\/2009\/09\/kanakaredes-reminisces-about-guiding-light\/","title":{"rendered":"Kanakaredes Reminisces About &#8216;Guiding Light&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>CSI: New York<\/i> star <B>Melina Kanakaredes<\/b> (Stella Bonasera) got her start on the CBS soap opera <i>Guiding Light<\/i>, which will end its 72-year run on Friday, September 18.<\/p>\n<p>\n<!--more-->Kanakaredes&#8217; grandmother, <b>Areti Temo<\/b>, was a Greek immigrant who learned to speak English by listening to the long-running series on the radio and later watching it on television. From 1991 to 1995, Kanakaredes played Eleni Andros Cooper on <i>Light<\/i>. &#8220;It was my first [acting] job out of college,&#8221; she shared. &#8220;I had done some commercials, but I was still new. . . . My grandmother was so excited.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\nThe actress would often use the names of people from her hometown of Akron, Ohio as customers for her character&#8217;s fictional catering business.
