CSI: Crime Scene Investigation<\/i> actress Jorja Fox<\/b> (Sara Sidle) is a staunch advocate for animal rights. She is a spokesperson for Animal Defenders International<\/a>, which works to rescue animals all over the world and educate the public about animals and environmental issues. In addition to her offscreen advocacy, Fox’s role on CSI<\/i> gives her a chance to highlight important animal-related causes on the show. “Calling attention to these issues—whether it is on CSI<\/i> or with Animal Defenders International—is a passion of mine,” Fox told Parade<\/a>. “CSI’<\/i>s writers care about these issues too, and do such a great job in weaving them into the show.”<\/p>\n

\nThe crime drama has used episodes to draw attention to a number of animal rights issues, including gorilla poaching in season one’s “Evaluation Day”<\/a>, canned hunting in the season five episode “Unbearable”<\/a> (which earned the show a Genesis Award<\/a> from the Humane Society), factory farming in “Loco Motives”<\/a> during season seven, dog fighting in the season eight episode “Lying Down With Dogs”<\/a> (which also earned the show a Genesis Award<\/a>), and the cruelty of shark fin soup in season eleven’s “Pool Shark”<\/a>.
