{"id":40652,"date":"2013-01-12T01:03:46","date_gmt":"2013-01-12T09:03:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.csifiles.com\/content\/?p=40652"},"modified":"2024-06-25T13:43:14","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T20:43:14","slug":"csiny-explores-the-experience-of-living-with-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.csifiles.com\/content\/2013\/01\/csiny-explores-the-experience-of-living-with-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;CSI:NY&#8217; Explores The Experience Of &#8216;Living With Cancer&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sid Hammerback (<b>Robert Joy<\/b>) is facing a longterm battle, while the fate of <I>CSI: New York<\/i> itself remains up in the air.<\/p>\n<p>\n<!--more-->As <I>CSI: NY<\/i> revealed in last week&#8217;s episode, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csifiles.com\/episodes\/newyork\/season9\/command_p.shtml\">&#8220;Command+P&#8221;<\/a>, the team&#8217;s resident coroner has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin&#8217;s lymphoma. However, Joy told <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.zap2it.com\/frominsidethebox\/2013\/01\/csi-ny-robert-joy-was-warned-about-his-character-sids-cancer.html\">Zap2It<\/a> that the writers won&#8217;t be getting rid of Sid any time soon; instead, they want to explore &#8220;the potential of having someone on the team living with cancer.&#8221; He added, &#8220;I certainly know people living long lives with cancer, even though (their cases have been diagnosed as) &#8216;incurable,&#8217; because there are so many treatments to extend and improve the quality of life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\nSid&#8217;s storyline is part of the writers&#8217; ongoing plan to explore the private lives of the team members. &#8220;I know it&#8217;s gratifying for them, but it&#8217;s also very generous to us as a cast,&#8221; Joy explained. &#8220;It&#8217;s almost like a gift. If we are coming to the end of the run, it&#8217;s a beautiful thing to do.
