(Spoilers after the jump!)<\/p>\n<p>\n<!--more-->The three-episode story arc leading up to Catherine&#8217;s exit has been &#8220;intense&#8221;, Helgenberger told <i>TV Guide<\/i>. &#8220;These episodes were hard,&#8221; she explained. &#8220;But I&#8217;m happy with how it all went.&#8221; Despite the fact that Catherine inherited casino land from Sam Braun, the character will take a different path when she leaves the crime lab. &#8220;An offer to join a federal task force seemed more professional, like a promotion,&#8221; the actress revealed.<\/p>\n<p>\nCatherine&#8217;s new job will provide the perfect opportunity to feature her in upcoming storylines. Executive Producer <b>Carol Mendelsohn<\/b> &#8220;said that if they were to write an episode to entice me back, it would be easier given that I liked the idea [of Catherine joining the Feds],&#8221; Helgenberger explained. &#8220;And I am open to returning at some point.
