As CSI Files previously reported<\/a>, Executive Producers Carol Mendelsohn<\/b> and Don McGill<\/b> participated in the CBS Fall Premiere chat tonight, September 14, and the pair offered some new information about CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’<\/i>s upcoming twelfth season. \nMendelsohn and McGill shared details via Twitter<\/a>. The producers revealed that fans can look forward to cases including “creepy killers”, “An octopus on a Vegas tram”, “a new kind of blood drop, a bug no one has ever seen before, and a ‘super gun.'” In casting news, Pirates of the Caribbean<\/i> actor Kevin McNally<\/b> will guest star “in a freak show” during an upcoming episode. As Shane Saunders<\/b> posted<\/a>, Monique Gabriela Curnen<\/b> will be joining the cast in a recurring capacity as new ballistics tech Xiomara Garcia. In other tech-related news, Mendelsohn Tweeted, “Henry Andrews (Jon Wellner<\/b>) gets a promotion. [David] Hodges (Wallace Langham<\/b>), Mandy [Webster, Sheeri Rappaport<\/b>] and Archie [Johnson, Archie Kao<\/b>] running the maze as well.”<\/p>\n

\nThe producers said Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle<\/b>) and Dr Al Robbins (Robert David Hall<\/b>) will “Fill us in” on the departure of Dr Ray Langston (Laurence Fishburne<\/b>). They added that Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger<\/b>) and Nick Stokes (George Eads<\/b>) “will throw down the rest of the pieces.” As for Fishburne’s replacement, Ted Danson<\/b> (DB Russell), they said, “We lucked out – Ted Danson was perfect for the role. Great actor, funny, sensitive, intense, and looks terrific in latex.” Mendelsohn also shared, “Don and I think Ted is a dream. So does cast & crew. And lucky for us he seems to like us too.”<\/p>\n

\nRegarding married couple Gil Grissom (former leading man William Petersen<\/b>) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox<\/b>), Mendelsohn said, “Look for clues to where Grissom’s been and where he’s heading.” She added, “Billy says Grissom has been working on perfecting his grilled cheese sandwiches. May surprise Sara with one.” Viewers met Grissom’s mother Betty (Phyllis Frelich<\/b>) in last seasons’s “The Two Mrs Grissoms”<\/a>, and McGill said they’ve been talking about the possibility of introducing Sara’s mother during season 12, perhaps in “an episode called ‘The In-Laws.'”<\/p>\n

\nIn other romantic news, Mendelsohn teased that the relationship between Catherine and Detective Vartann (Alex Carter<\/b>) “will become even more explosive and maybe even deadly.” Nick will have a new potential love interest with “connections to the morgue”, the producers Tweeted, and they suggested that this woman will be the niece of resident coroner Doc Robbins. “Nick’s date interrupted by decomp, will she come back for more? Death can’t scare Robbins’ niece,” they revealed. Also, “We’ll meet Mrs Robbins soon.”
