CSI: Crime Scene Investigation<\/i> has cast Tony award-winning actress Phyllis Frelich<\/b> to play the mother of former leading man Gil Grissom (William Petersen<\/b>). More details (including spoilers) after the jump!<\/p>\n
\nAccording to Entertainment Weekly<\/i>, Frelich (who is deaf in real life) will appear in the CSI<\/i> episode tentatively scheduled to air February 3. She encounters the team—and her son’s wife Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox<\/b>)—after a murder occurs at a school for the deaf. Mrs Grissom is a professor at the school, and she doesn’t approve of her son’s choice for a wife. She would have preferred if Gil married one of his former girlfriends, played by Oscar winner Marlee Matlin<\/b>. Matlin’s character is one of Mrs Grissom’s school colleagues and is also her prot\u00e9g\u00e9. William Petersen will not return to CSI<\/i> for the episode.
