AJ Buckley<\/b> (Adam Ross) is excited about season seven of CSI: New York<\/i>, and he likes having the opportunity to take on more work in his spare time. (Minor spoilers after the jump.)<\/p>\n
\nNew York<\/i> has been “business as usual” despite the move to Friday nights, Buckley told CTV. “We turn it up a notch with Sela<\/b> [Ward<\/b>, Jo Danville] joining, but to be honest, when I first heard we were moving, I was scared,” Buckley said. “Is this the end of CSI<\/i>, is the franchise dying? After talking with producers and the studio, the way the world is right now, the economy, people are home Friday nights. They want to reinvent Friday nights. I think people will follow it.”<\/p>\n
\nBuckley added that Ward’s addition to the cast “brings a new dynamic to the show.” He continued, “Besides being a fantastic person, the writers found a great voice for her. My character is out of the lab, the third episode of the season, it’s awesome for Adam. He’s outside, kicking ass. It’s a whole side to Adam we’ve never seen before. It’s another layer you pull back and think, ‘Oh cool.’ I love how they write this character. It’s always fun being the funny guy on such a dark set.”<\/p>\n
\nThe actor loves his job on CSI: NY<\/i>, but he also likes taking the chance to get out and work on other projects. “CSI<\/i> has given me so much opportunity, and allowed me on so many different levels to work in new avenues,” Buckley explained. “I could relax and sit back, but I want to take it to the next level or build my confidence.” He added, “For me, it’s a business, and you have to work hard, and there’s so much more out there I want to do and people I want to work with. It’s never ending.”<\/p>\n
\nBuckley isn’t worried that his other roles will distract him from New York<\/i>. “No, in a sense the showrunners have always believed in my and my directing and writing, they let me shadow them, and that sort of stuff,” he explained. “For some people maybe, but the busier I am, the happier I am. It’s the joy of having ADD, I’m an incredible multi-tasker. It’s an incredible opportunity and I don’t want to see it go. I’m having so much fun, there’s nothing I could complain about. I enjoy working my ass off.”
