The addition of veteran actress Sela Ward<\/b> to the cast of CSI: New York<\/i> is something fresh for the actress—and hopefully a jolt of new life for the series.<\/p>\n
\nAs CSI Files previously reported<\/a>, Ward is joining the cast as former FBI agent Jo Danville. The character joins the New York Crime Lab after Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes<\/b>) leaves to run her own crime lab in New Orleans, Louisiana. Being a part of the CSI<\/i> franchise is a different experience for Ward. “It’s going to be a whole new world,” the actress told Entertainment Weekly<\/i>. “On Sisters<\/i>, I was always in the kitchen, saying things like ‘Could you pass the cookies, Georgie?’ Now I\u2019m going to be doing this and\u2026oh my. I’m just stepping into a room I’ve never been in.”<\/p>\n \nAlthough Ward is taking Kanakaredes’ place in the cast, executive producer Pam Veasey<\/b> was adamant that the actress (and the character she plays) is not simply a replacement. “We wanted to make this a unique character for Sela,” Veasey explained. “It was all so unexpected but invigorating. She’ll help revitalize and jump-start our show.
