Former CSI: Crime Scene Investigation<\/i> star William Petersen<\/b> (Gil Grissom) has taken on his first movie role since leaving the crime drama by joining the cast of Tony Kaye<\/b>‘s independent film Detachment<\/i>.<\/p>\n
\nThe drama is set in a high school and centers around a substitute teacher played by Adrien Brody<\/b>. Brody’s character becomes invested in the faculty and students at the school, and he grows close to a homeless teenager working as a prostitute. Petersen plays a history teacher who is also a Vietnam veteran. The character shows a gay film in his class in an attempt to teach tolerance, but it lands him in trouble.<\/p>\n
\nThe film also stars Lucy Liu<\/b> as a school psychologist, and Christina Hendricks<\/b> will play a teacher (and potential love interest) who encourages Brody’s character to become a full time educator. Bryan Cranston<\/b>, James Caan<\/b> and Marcia Gay Harden<\/b> are also in the cast for Detachment<\/i>, which recently began filming in New York. It is produced by Bingo Gubelmann<\/b>, Austin Stark<\/b>, Benji Kohn<\/b> and Greg Shapiro<\/b>.
