Schlitz was severely injured by an improvised explosive device while serving in the US Army in Iraq in 2007. He suffered burns over 85% of his body, he lost both hands, and he suffered from vision loss and has a limited range of motion. Sinise called Schlitz &#8220;a real inspiration&#8221;.
