Shue’s ‘CSI’ Role Revealed

1 min read

As CSI Files previously reported, Elisabeth Shue will be joining the cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after the departure of Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows). CSI Files can now exclusively reveal whom Shue will be playing.

Shue will play the role of Julie “Finn” Finlay, a former colleague of DB Russell’s (Ted Danson) from Seattle, sources tell CSI Files. Finlay is smart, tough, competitive, with razor sharp wit and instincts to match, as well as true heart and compassion, the new CSI also struggles with “brutal honesty issues” and suffers no fools.

CSI is currently in production on this season’s twelfth episode, “Willows In The Wind,” which will see the departure of Catherine Willows. Production on Shue’s first episode commences in early January and will premiere on February 15, 2012.

  1. I still don’t think it is a good idea to add a new character/replace Marg Helgenberger.

  2. I really hope she’ll be likeable. I never really cared for Catherine, but I don’t see why they have to replace her. I think Jorja Fox and Elisabeth Harnois are totally able to do the job. But well… what can we do, right?

Still, while I love love love CSI, I’ve been thinking that maybe – just maybe – the show needs to lighten up a little bit. The characters just seem so… mechanical nowadays. We hardly learn something new about them – I’m not asking for personal lives and drama drama drama – but it just seems so dark around there lately. It’s better now that Langston is gone, but it still lacks some fun. I don’t know, show Morgan having a dinner with Ecklie, Greg making jokes again, Nick going on an actual date that has nothing to do with his job, Grissom visiting Sara… They don’t really need to say anything, just show them as persons to us. It would be nice to see that after all this time.
