CBS Acquires New Crime Drama

CBS has acquired yet another crime drama with an acronym title, this one called CCAT: Career Criminal Apprehension Team.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news on Tuesday that CBS is producing the new crime drama. Former lawyers Kevin Tolay and J.P. Donahue will pen the pilot, which will be produced by CBS Productions and Sony Pictures TV.

Zap2It reported that the show would center around a law enforcement agency whose job it was to track career criminals, and keep them from committing further crimes. The show is still in the development phase, so no air date is set.

The acquisition of yet another crime drama for CBS is not a huge surprise. Just this past season, CBS debuted Navy NCIS, Cold Case and The Handler. CBS's lineup, lead by CSI (the top rated show on television), helped the network to win sweeps month in November (story).
