Hello World!

On Tuesday I spent over $15 on a DVD that I will never watch again after November. Why not? Because it was the theatrical version of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and in November, the extended edition of that film comes out. Any news updates due at this site will be late that day, as I will be sitting in front of my television for four hours as soon as I've gotten my kids off to school and gotten myself to the store to get my copy.

Until then, however, I have to make do with the theatrical release and the previews that come with it on a second disc which also includes Sean Astin's short film The Long and Short Of It, the WB Two Towers special narrated by Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum and other goodies which sort of make up for having to pay for the movie twice. Yesterday I watched the extended edition preview over and over, squealing at the meaty new Boromir scenes. I am afraid to watch The Return of the King preview too often, however, as it will just make me go insane waiting for December to arrive.

You may have noticed that it's been a little quiet around here. That's because two of the three of us who write this column are suffering from serious computer woes, leaving yours truly to hold down the fort. But don't worry, everyone will be back and blabbing next week.

Also: Brass reopens a woman's accidental-death case after spotting the deceased's husband in a flashy new car with a trophy date on his arm.

Friday night at 11 p.m. Eastern Time, Spike TV will rerun CSI's "Crate 'n Burial" which guest-stars Enterprise's Jolene Blalock. Here is a summary of the episode:

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
