February Sweeps Not Over For 'New York'

By Carolina
February 28, 2005 - 3:19 AM

February sweeps has wrapped for CSI and CSI: Miami, but CBS has one more episode of New York in their sweeps vault.

New York ends its February sweeps period with "The Fall," in which one of our main characters will have to choose between loyalty and friendship in order to bring justice to a calloused murder:

When young gang members murder the owner of an upscale Bronx wine store, the CSIs must work to find evidence that ultimately ties someone to the crime. Before dying, the store owner makes a statement to police identifying his attackers as young gang members. Tempers flare when the murder investigation reunites Detective Flack with his long-time mentor and friend Sergeant Gavin Moran, who was the first to arrive at the crime scene. Meanwhile, Danny and Aiden investigate the death of an influential movie producer found dead on the canopy of his Chelsea apartment building.

"The Fall" was directed by Norberto Barba, who is a new face to New York but not to the CSI franchise. Barba also directed the CSI: Miami episode "Shootout". The episode was written by Anne McGrail, who also a member of the Miami writing staff and a consulting producer for the show, and its story was created by Bill Haynes.

The following guest actors will be making an appearance in "The Fall:"

  • Sonya Walger as Jane Parsons
  • Jack Gwaltney as Sgt. Gavin Moran
  • Stacey Travis as Chandra Heckman
  • Brad Grunberg as Melvin Heckman
  • Patrick Fischler as Brent
  • Erik Gavica as Tomas Perez
  • Rose Abdoo as Blanca Vasquez
  • Clark Gregg as D. A. Allen McShane
  • Mike Risco as Hector Vasquez
  • Casey Strand as Gwen
  • Cisco Reyes as Luis Accosta
  • William Wallace as Owner

Sonya Walger reprises her recurring role as Jane Parsons, the DNA lab technician. Jack Gwaltney is a familiar face to the CSI franchise as well, playing Matthew Warner in the Miami episode "Bait". Fans might recognize Patrick Fischler for his comedic role as Mr. Lee/Wolfie in the CSI episode "Fur and Loathing", while Cisco Reyes played Joe Aviar in Miami's "Body Count".

CBS had originally planned to air CSI: Miami's new episode "Money Plane", but the network decided to pull the episode back a week in order to compete with NBC's premiere of The Contender (story). Instead, CBS will air a rerun of the episode "Pirated". Below are the plot details:

Horatio suspects modern-day pirates are at large when six bodies are found floating near the Miami coast. Horatio suspects that a ship was hijacked with some of the crew killed and then dumped overboard. Evidence suggests that other crew members might have escaped on a life raft. Using radar and GPS technology, the CSIs find survivors but their stories don't match. Now, Horatio and the team must learn what really happened out in the ocean as they find themselves investigating the seamy underbelly of Miami’s militias and arms dealers.

And finally, CSI enters its reruns period with the repeat of Mea Culpa. Here's how the network described the episode:

After a murder trial is reopened to explore new forensic evidence, Grissom discovers a previously undetected fingerprint on a piece of evidence during his cross-examination. This oversight is an opportunity for new assistant lab director Conrad Ecklie to put Grissom and his nightshift team under the microscope..
