The CSI franchise earned nominations in several categories of the People's Choice Awards, including Favorite Drama, Favorite New Drama and Favorite Female TV Star.

Zap2It reported on the complete nominations, which also included movie stars, reality series and musical performances. While in the past, winners were determined by a Gallup poll, but this year the show's producers allowed Entertainment Weekly's "Front Row Panel" to pick a slate of nominees.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will compete for the top television drama prize against Alias, Gilmore Girls, The O.C. and The Sopranos. CSI: NY's nomination in the new drama category pits it against Boston Legal, Desperate Housewives, Jack & Bobby and Lost.

Marg Helgenberger, who plays Catherine Willows on the original CSI, will compete against Jennifer Garner of Alias, Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls, and the two female stars of Will & Grace, Debra Messing and Megan Mullally, for best-loved actress honours.

Fans can vote for their favourites at PCAvote.com, which will record selections until January 9th when the awards show will air on CBS.

In addition to the People's Choice Awards nominations, CSI actors have been selected for two TV Guide 2004 Greatest Moments awards. The awards will air on Monday, December 20th on ABC.

William Petersen (Gil Grissom) will represent CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in the category of Favorite Drama Star, competing against 24's Kiefer Sutherland, Boston Legal's William Shatner, Desperate Housewives' Marcia Cross, The O.C.'s Mischa Barton and The Sopranos' Drea De Matteo.

CSI: NY's Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer) will try to become Favorite Newcomer over Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives, Paulo Constanzo of Joey, Taye Diggs of Kevin Hill, Evangeline Lilly of Lost and Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars.

Zap2It's report on the People's Choice Awards nominations is here, while TV Guide's page to vote for the 2004 Greatest Moments awards is here.

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
