Adam is out of the lab and into...reality TV?

CSI: New York actor AJ Buckley (Adam Ross) appeared on the CW series Supernatural during the show's first season. He played Ed Zeddmore, half of a duo of amateur ghost hunters called the Hell Hounds. The episode ended with the possibility of having the characters return in the future. "We kept hearing rumblings that we were going to be brought back, but then a whole season passed and nothing happened so I kind forgot about it," Buckley explained to Eclipse magazine. "Then this season we got the call that we were coming back and I was like 'sweet, I can't wait to see what they have come up with'."

The episode, titled "Ghostfacers", airs April 24 at 9:00pm EST on the CW network. The episode was filmed partially with hand-held cameras and has a reality show feel to it. "Most of the time it was really actors filming actors as part of creating the show within a show," Buckley said. "The camera men would step in every once and a while, but for this episode they really kinda took it easy." The actor watched some of the real ghost hunter shows on TV to get ready for the role, and he joked, "The guys of Ghostfacers are ready to take them on any day!"

Buckley said filming was a lot of fun for him and for everyone else as well. "Because this is normally such an intense and dark show," he explained, the cast and crew told him "that it was so nice to have this kind of episode every once in a while and make people laugh." He went on to say the episode "was not only incredibly well written, but because of the way it was shot and the style in which it was written there was a lot of room to play with improv."

"The fact that CBS allowed me to have the time out of my CSI: New York filming schedule to go and do the episode of Supernatural totally shocked me," Buckley admitted. "I was all set to be bummed out about not being able to return to Supernatural and then it all worked out great." After seeing the show-within-a-show format of "Ghostfacers", Buckley said, "Travis [Wester (Harry Spangler)] and I were looking at each other and we were both pretty much thinking the same thing- spinoff!"
