It was a surprise that came far out of left field – but only one of the CSI shows scored a home run for the CBS team this week, with the other caught out and the third never making it off the bench.

CSI: Miami battled admirably for the top spot on Monday evening but was fended off by the Fox network's screening of the Major League Baseball Championship Series, which claimed the top spot for the hour and won the night for Fox. Miami still gave a solid performance with a rating of 14.2/21.

These ratings mean that out of all the households in America, 14.2% were watching Miami's "Legal", rising to 21% when factoring only in those households actually watching TV at 10:00pm. Last week's rating was 15.3/23, showing a definite drop almost certainly due to Fox's baseball screenings.

The ball stayed with Miami but was then swiftly passed to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's Crow's Feet -- completely bypassing CSI: New York, which was yanked from its Wednesday timeslot (story), probably due to CBS executives not wanting to see the latest footsoldier of their flagship show cut down by the opposition (baseball still showing on Fox that night) before it was even five episodes in.

Big-hitter CSI: Crime Scene Investigation then came into bat. The veteran crime show has held the top spot for the hour (and indeed all of primetime) for some time and this week was no different – pulling in as it did a rating of 18.8/26, with total viewers of 26.24 million. Whilst it was down from last week, "Crow's Feet" still beat the otherwise triumphant Fox baseball series into second place for the hour. CSI managed to pull in 28.23 million viewers last week; though considering the baseball game it showed opposite managed 17.39 million, the drop was comparatively small.
