The Dollyrots lead singer Kelly Ogden talked to the Herald Tribune about their recent CSI: New York gig.

The band appeared in the episode "Stuck On You" as the Rough Sects, an all girl band that loses two of its members when the CSIs find they're responsible for a murder. Ogden said she'd never been to an audition before.

"I got a call from our publishing company asking if I could go audition for the part of a bass player in a girl band," the singer and bassist said. "I've never been on an audition or anything, so I said, 'Sure.' I went to CBS studios and gave it a whirl."

"There were all these pretty actress chicks in miniskirts and boots and makeup," she continued, "... and there I was in my jeans, sneakers, a T-shirt and dirty hair. I didn't think I had a chance."

The singer, however, received the call the next day and met with the producers of the show to give them the opportunity to listen to some of the band's tunes. Ogden still had the chance to play lead singer, but actress Shelly Gordon replaced the band's regular drummer.

Ogden said she really enjoyed being on CSI, and the band's TV gig has opened up new channels. "TV's so funny. You get so many chances to get things right. It was no pressure at all compared to performing on stage or something. I mean, usually I have to remember to sing, play, look entertaining ... and it has to be right then, no second chances!"

The songs played during the episode can be found in The Dollyrots debut album Eat My Heart Out, which can be purchased through their official website. To read the original article, visit the Herald Tribune.
