With Season 2 of CSI:NY just released on DVD, fans now wonder what the DVDs contain before rushing out to buy the set, priced at $41 on Amazon. Fortunately, critics answer this question for us.

This is a 6 disc set packed with 24 episodes. The extras are spread through the set rather than being saved for one bonus disc. The quality of the widescreen transfer is reportedly “rock solid” and the audio presentation, delivered in a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, is “very strong,” according to DVD Talk.

Five audio commentaries are included, spread throughout the first three discs. The commentaries are as follows: “Summer in the City” by director David Von Ancken and editor Bill Zabala, “Murder at Grand Central Station” by director Scott Lautanen and writer Zachary Reiter, “Manhattan Manhunt” by creator Anthony Zuiker and writer Elizabeth Devine, “Bad Beat” by writers Zachary Reiter and Duane Clark and “Trapped” by executive producer Peter Lenkov and director James Whitmore Jr.. Zuiker reportedly delivers the best commentary, though Lenkov and Whitmore are supposed to be fun to listen to as well.

Additionally, there are five featurettes sprinkled throughout the set. The first of which is “Top of the Heap: The Cast and Crew Look at Season 2.” This is a 10-minute piece that reportedly contains some good interview clips, though it feels as if it were shot to promote the show at the beginning of the season. Another of the featurettes is a 7:30 long piece called “Rolling with’Jamalot’,” which looks at the unique production challenges of that episode. There is another 7:30 minute featurette doing the same for “Heros,” a CSI:NY set tour with Zuiker lasting 9 minutes and a 6:30 minute look at the season finale.

The bottom line? According to Movie Web, “CSI:NY – The Complete Second Season is as consistent as TV on DVD gets.” DVD Talk says, “Fans of the series will enjoy this collection, and those new to this entry are getting a great first look.”

The CSI:NY Season 2 DVD set is now available for purchase at Amazon.

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
