Tyler To Star In New CBS Project This Fall

Rising star Aisha Tyler seems to be moving from strength to strength – having already jumped from a guest role in hit comedy series Friends to a recurring role as DNA analyst Mia Dickerson in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, the comedienne-turned-actress has now signed a talent development deal with CBS to produce a brand new series.

The project, which is still heavily in the development stage, will not only star the actress but have her heavily involved in the production side too. Yahoo! News reports that she is meeting with the creative staff to discuss her own ideas as to what direction the show could take.

"We are open to any idea that is original and fresh," said Tyler. She believed her recent recurring roles on Fox's 24 and CSI would only broaden the choice of directions the show could take, adding that with her "coming off two dramas, we'll be able to cast the net a little wider."

This is not the first time Tyler has joined forced with CBS. "It's a nice segue to go from the No. 1 drama into doing my own show for them," she said, having also hosted The Late Late Show earlier in the month. Outside of the network, she has also appeared in surgical drama Nip/Tuck.

The actress has also kept busy with a number of other recent projects. Most notably, she appeared in crime thriller Never Die Alone (currently showing in cinemas), and also published a book of comic essays entitled Swerve: Reckless Observations of a Post-Modern Girl, released last February.
