'Dead of Winter' - copyright Pocket StarThe publishing company Pocket Star recently revealed the cover art image and plot details for CSI: New York's first novel Dead of Winter.

The cover of the novel features the New York skyline with bullet holes serving as decoration. Though no characters are featured, New York's signature blue hue is predominant in the art cover.

Written by Stuart M. Kaminsky, Dead of Winter will see Mac Taylor and Aiden Burn investigate the death of a doorman who worked a ritzy building in the Upper East Side. With no bullets, no DNA, and no motive, the case proves arduous for the CSIs. Meanwhile, Stella Bonasera and Danny Messer investigate the murder of a witness in an important case. When said witness is found dead in their hotel room, and the officers claim the room was locked all night, Stella and Danny must figure out who had access to the victim.

Author Stuart M. Kaminsky is no stranger to mystery novels. The ex-president of Mystery Writers of America, Kaminsky has written over 90 books ranging from mystery to short story, biographies, etc. The novelist has been nominated for the Edgar Allen Poe Awards multiple times, and was once the recipient of the same for this novel A Cold Red Sunrise. This will be the Kaminsky's first CSI project.

CSI fans might be used to seeing the name Max Allan Collins on the franchise's book covers, but Collins recently decided to concentrate on CSI novels exclusively. But that doesn't mean the novelist will steer clear of the New York fandom. Collins is currently working on a comic book of the series as well as two jigsaw puzzles (news).

Dead of Winter will officially hit the stands on August 30th. For more information on Stuart Kaminsky, visit the writer's official website.
