CBS has selected New York City as the location for the third CSI spinoff, which will likely debut this fall.

Both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed that CBS head Les Moonves will make the official announcent on Saturday at the Television Critics Association press tour. Anthony Zuicker, CSI: Crime Scene Investigations's creator, will create the show, expected to be entitled CSI: New York and co-write the pilot with Ann Donahue and Carol Mendelsohn. Along with Jerry Bruckheimer, all three will serve as executive producers.

CBS Productions, Alliance Atlantis, and Bruckheimer Films will produce the show, with Zuicker heading up production. Mendelsohn will continue to run CSI, while Donahue will stay on as the head of CSI: Miami.

Serious consideration for a third CSI show began in November of last year (story). At the time, Moonves announced that four cities were being considered. Later on down the line, two front runners emerged: New York and New Orleans.
