The middle child of the CSI franchise is all grown up.
CSI: Miami is currently working on its seventh season, and actor Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko) said he felt confident in the series from the very beginning. "We knew that CSI Vegas had been really successful," he told Hollywood 411, adding, "we just sort of knew that we had that momentum going for us. We really got along well as a cast and felt the chemistry and just believed that the show would do well, and it has."
"The writers just keep coming up with bigger and better things every season, and the audience is staying engaged," Rodriguez continued. He also said the show's production value is great. "With Jerry Bruckheimer and CBS behind them, they just put all the money on the screen and it looks like a movie every time. I'm always impressed," he revealed.
One nice thing about being on the air for seven years is having "time for the characters now to really start developing," the actor said. One such development is the ongoing relationship between Eric and fellow CSI Calleigh Duquesne (Emily Procter). "We're really just buddies and friends and during the course of the time that the show has been on, the characters have started to see each other in a different light," Rodriguez said. "There's something that's always been there." He went on to say that fans of the show have been looking for a romance to blossom between the characters. "I think that it's been moving in that direction for a long time," he said, "and I think sooner than later it'll be time to actually deliver the goods to the fans that are waiting to see that."
Rodriguez also spoke about another of his costars, David Caruso (Horatio Caine). Horatio is "intense", the actor said, but Caruso himself is quite different. "We have a lot of laughs," Rodriquez explained. "He really has a great sense of humor. It's a shame you don't get to see it more often on the show, but he's a real witty, funny guy, and we really enjoy working together."
