With Emmy nomination considerations beginning, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is throwing its hat in the ring, hoping to garner nods for episodes from its just-finished fourth season.

An insider at the Gold Derby Forums wrote that nine episodes of CSI were officially submitted for Emmy consideration. The episodes are: "Butterflied," "XX," "Jackpot," "Assume Nothing," "Early Rollout," "Homebodies," "Invisible Evidence," "Bad to the Bone," and "After the Show." The West Wing and Law & Order: SVU also submitted nine episodes each. Episodes of Carnivale, Deadwood, ER, Joan of Arcadia, nip/tuck, The O.C., The Shield, The Sopranos, 24, The Wire, and Without a Trace were also submitted for consideration.

The Hollywood Reporter has several stories on their predictions for frontrunners in the writing and directing categories. Among the writing hopefuls, The Hollywood Reporter speculated Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar could nab a nod for"Jackpot", the episode in which Grissom goes to Jackpot, NV to investigate a murder after a severed head is shipped from that town to the CSIs. Though both Mendelsohn and Shankar have recieved general drama nominations for CSI, if they are nominated for "Jackpot," it will be their first writing nod.

In the director category, The Hollywood Reporter thinks frequent director and CSI co-producer Danny Canon could score his first directing nod. This season, Canon directed episodes such as "Jackpot" and "Invisible Evidence".

The network has been promoting the show with ads in trade magazines. A CSI one featuring the entire cast can be viewed here, while one for CSI: Miami featuring star David Caruso can be seen here.
