A single new episode airs as the writers' strike claims another casualty.

On Monday at 10:00pm EST, CSI: Miami starts the week with the only new episode of the franchise. "Raising Caine" is the final episode that was completed before the writers' strike, and Horatio reunites with an old flame who brings more complications into his life:

Horatio's ex and Kyle's mother (guest star Elizabeth Berkley), resurfaces as a billionaire's widow who will do anything to get her son back.

Gina Lamar has directed three previous episode of Miami, the latest being "Inside Out" from earlier this season. The episode's writer, Sunil Nayar, also worked on "Inside Out", which is one of 18 writing credits for the show.

The following actors and actresses are guest-starring in "Raising Caine":

  • Boti Bliss as Maxine Valera
  • Evan Ellingson as Kyle Harmon
  • Christina Chang as Rebecca Nivins
  • Lisa Sheridan as Kathleen Newberry
  • Steve Toussaint as Judge Hugo Kemp
  • Elizabeth Berkley as Julia Winston
  • Robert Merrill as Bill Winston
  • Jay R. Ferguson as Larry Hopkins
  • Anna Rose Hopkins as Pamela Mills
  • Josh Kelly as Paul
  • Bee-Be Smith as Court Clerk
  • Jeff DeSerrano as Corrections Officer

Boti Bliss and Christina Chang are reprising established recurring roles. Evan Ellingson is back as Horatio's son Kyle, and Elizabeth Berkley is making her Miami debut as someone very important in Kyle's life. Berkley previously appeared on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in "Lady Heather's Box" during the show's third season. Lisa Sheridan was in "Dangerous Son" at the beginning of the current season of Miami. Steve Toussaint is also returning to the show after previous appearances, the latest being in "Chain Reaction". This is Jeff DeSerrano's second time playing a corrections officer on Miami, the other time being for "Inside Out". Robert Merrill was in the CSI: New York episode "The Lying Game" last season.

CSI: New York will not be airing an episode this week because the final installment of the Comanche Moon miniseries will be airing Wednesday from 9:00pm to 11:00pm.

A repeat episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is scheduled for Thursday at 9:00pm EST: "Go to Hell". The third episode of season eight found the team investigating the death of a family and the disappearance of the only surviving daughter. As they dug deeper, they discovered the sinister truth behind the murders. The family believed that their now-missing daughter had been possessed by the devil, and Grissom and the rest of the CSIs had to discover if things were really what they seemed.

"Raising Caine" and the repeat of "Go to Hell" begin airing January 14 on CBS.

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
