Grissom gets some new buggy friends and Miami gets a brand new addition to the lab.

The eighth season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will provide Gil Grissom (William Petersen) with a unique new storyline that will begin in episode three, "Go to Hell" (a spoiler report for the episode can be found here). Unlike season seven's miniature killer plot, this time around Grissom is fascinated by something other than a human being: bugs, of course.

"Grissom will begin to study colonization in Episode 3," executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said, as revealed in Ask Ausiello. "We're going to do this very dark, scary episode set in a haunted house. While there, Grissom is going to find a live beehive, and he is going to take this beehive back to [the lab] and he is going to study it all season. He's trying to figure out why these honey bees are dying around the world. It's really about Grissom looking outside the lab… to see the problems of the world. It's Grissom's science experiment for the year."

Elsewhere in the franchise, CSI: Miami is getting a new addition of the human variety. It has been reported that Jessica Szohr will be joining the cast as A.V. Tech specialist Samantha Barrish. The character will be introduced in "Cyber-lebrity", the third episode of Miami's sixth season (a spoiler report can be found here). In the episode, Barrish uses her expertise to help the CSIs solve the murder of an internet celebrity's boyfriend.

The original information was found at Ask Ausiello. More information about Jessica Szohr, including a filmography, can be seen at IMDb.com.
