Two weeks ago, NBC gave CBS a welcome gift by taking Law & Order off the air for one Wednesday, giving fans of that show a chance to sample CSI: New York's "Tanglewood." This week, it turned out at least some of those fans stuck around.

According to a report by Cynthia Littleton at the Hollywood Reporter, <CSI: New York's "Blood, Sweat and Tears" was watched by 13.9 million people. Although this is a lot less than the more than 17 million viewers that watched "Tanglewood," it's almost two million more than the record-low of 12.2 million achieved by "Tri-Borough" in early January. These ratings were also enough to beat arch-rival Law & Order, which only attracted 13.2 million viewers, and ran especially far behind of CSI: New York in the important adults 18-49 demographic.

CSI: New York won its 10:00pm timeslot, but wasn't the most-watched show of the night, as both Lost at 8:00pm and American Idol at 9:00pm attracted more viewers. On Monday, CSI: Miami's "One Night Stand" did rule the night, as its 18.4 million viewers weren't matched by any other show. The show managed to beat NBC's new hit Medium, which reached a still-high viewership level of 14 million people.

As usual, the most successful CSI of the week was the original one, which aired "Unbearable" on Thursday at 8:00pm. With 27.6 million viewers, the show bounced back from last week's relatively low 24.8 million, which was caused by the success of ABC's Happy Days reunion. This week, CSI's strongest competition was The Apprentice on NBC, but the 15.1 million people that watched that were clearly no match for CSI.

For the original ratings reports from last week, head over to Reuters' articles on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
