As the number of episodes created before the writers' strike dwindles, all three CSI shows present new offerings this week.

Starting out the week on Monday at 10:00pm EST, CSI: Miami deals with a dangerous weapon in "Guerillas in the Mist":

When a rare and illegal machine gun "vaporizes" three weapons' smugglers, the CSIs must find the killer before the gun causes more deaths.

This is Carey Meyer's second turn in the director's chair for Miami, and his first episode was last season's "Bloodline". Barry O'Brien has written twelve previous episodes of Miami including "Permanent Vacation" from earlier this season. "Guerillas in the Mist" marks Brian Davidson's tenth episode as a writer for Miami. His previous credits include "Chain Reaction" from the current season.

The following actors and actresses are guest-starring in "Guerillas in the Mist":

  • Boti Bliss as Maxine Valera
  • Terry Serpico as Steve Lancaster
  • Erika Alexander as Tanya Thorpe
  • John Ortiz as Gabriel Soto
  • Mark Wystrach as Patrick Austin
  • Rockmond Dunbar as Nathan Reilly
  • Sasha Roiz as Darren Butler
  • Chad Guerrero as Pedro Rupan
  • Patrick Wolff as Eddie Padura
  • Eddie Diaz as Hector Malcas
  • Justin Alverez as Stefan Bohdan
  • Roberto Alcaraz as Soto Look-a-like

Boti Bliss is returning in an established recurring role. Erika Alexander appeared in the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode "The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp" earlier this season. The other guest stars are new to the CSI franchise.

On Wednesday at 10:00pm EST, CSI: New York continues the week with "Child's Play", and one of the CSIs has a personal connection to a young victim:

When CSIs investigate a murder victim, the clues lead them to an infamous seller of killer pranks, "Laughing Larry." Meanwhile, Danny works on a case involving a boy from his neighborhood.

Jeffrey Hunt has directed two previous episodes of New York, including this season's "Buzzkill". Executive producer Pam Veasey has writing credit for 18 other episodes of New York, the latest being the season four premiere, "Can You Hear Me Now?" This is the second time that Trey Callaway has written for CSI: NY, and his other credit is for "Time's Up".

"Child's Play" includes the following guest stars:

  • Robert Joy as Dr. Sid Hammerback
  • Mark Simich as Essex Palmer

  • Matt Wood as Justin Burke
  • Richard V. Licata as Laughing Larry
  • Alice Rietveld as Sadie Kevitch
  • Matthew Yang King as Kim Wey
  • Bryan Okes Fuller as Reverand John McKlowski

Robert Joy is reprising his role as Dr Sid Hammerback. Mark Simich previously appeared on New York as Ron Blunt in the episode "Open and Shut" in season three. Brad Rowe has appeared on both Miami ("Double Jeopardy") and CSI ("Unbearable"). Jacqueline Pinol appeared in the Miami episode "Driven". Matthew Yang King was in the CSI episode "Snakes".

Thursday finds the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation team investigating the death of a rich woman while Warrick searches for the truth in "Laying Down with Dogs" at 9:00pm EST:

Grissom and his team delve into the world of illegal dog fighting to find out who is responsible for the death of a wealthy socialite. Meanwhile, Warrick tries to clear his name in the murder of an exotic dancer.

This is the third time that Michael Slovis has directed CSI. The last time he sat in the director's chair was for "Empty Eyes" in season seven. This is the first time that Christopher Barbour and Michael F.X. Daley have written for the CSI franchise.

"Laying Down with Dogs" contains the following guest actors and actresses:

  • David Berman as David Phillips

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
