Comic Series Continues With 'Secret Identity'

A new series of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation comic books is scheduled to be released in February, 2005.

IDW Publishing yesterday announced Steven Grant will pen a new five-issue mini-series entitled Secret Identity, according to Comic Book Resources. Gabriel Rodriguez and Steven Perkins, who worked on the CSI: Dominos comic, are set to return to the franchise to design the artwork for the new series.

CSI: Secret Identity kicks off with the murder of a tourist, with the chief suspect a man who has apparently died twice before, in two different bodies, no less. The press release said the story will immerse "Gil Grissom and the CSI team in a quagmire of deceit and treachery that stretches back 20 years—and still threatens them today!"

Grant, whose comic credits include The Punisher, Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel Team-Up and Green Lantern, said he relished the chance to write a crime series set in Las Vegas. "It's the most unique city in the world, a place where dreams and passions collide daily, a place where chance rules, and I really wanted to get that aspect across. Though I'm no stranger to crime fiction, it's an exciting challenge to measure up to the best crime show on network TV. So I've tried to amp things up a notch or two. The story will keep readers guessing, just like it keeps the CSI team guessing."

Also scheduled for publication in February next year is special CSI: Miami collection in trade paperback. The book will contain the three Miami one-shot comic books, Smoking Gun, Thou Shalt Not and Blood/Money.

The original press release can be found here at Comic Book Resources.
