March 10, 2007 - 8:00 PM

On Wednesday the 7th of March, 2007, Eddie Cahill (Detective Don Flack) took part in a live chat session with CSI Files visitors, during which he answered questions about his character, the show, tattoos and more. Below you can find a transcript of the entire chat.

Eddie Cahill: Hello.

Kristine: Lets get started with the questions!

Eddie Cahill: Let's do it.

Kristine: For now, message me by typing /msg Kristine to send questions.

Eddie Cahill: Is this thing on?

Tbonz: Yes, it is.

Kristine: Gsr love would like to know what your favorite epside of CSI NY is.

Eddie Cahill: Just checking.

Kristine: Sorry, Eddie!

Kristine: GSR fan would like to know what your favorite ep is?

Eddie: Wow. I know you may be sick of hearing this, but I still have to go with "The Fall". It was the beginning of Flack for me and I love that ep.

Kristine: Annabe is glad to see that you are having more stories this season and wants to know if anything special is coming up for Flack.

Eddie Cahill: Thank you. There's been some rumblings and rumors, but nothing has been set in stone.

Kristine: BTW, people Deb has joined the chat, so please send your questions to her!

Kristine: Just type /msg Deb.

Kristine: Anything you can share with us Eddie? Any hints?

Eddie Cahill: I wish I could, but I don't know anything. I'd be making things up if I told you anything.

Eddie Cahill: And while that would be a lot of fun...

Deb: This one comes from Showtime: What do you think of the amount of booty Danny and Mac are getting in comparison to you?

Eddie Cahill: I think it's Flack's turn!

Eddie Cahill: But there is a job to be done, and someone has to be responsible. :)

Kristine: Ka990 says: Flack comes across as a very strong character. What do you think was the most difficult thing for him with regards to being wounded in the bombing second season?

Eddie Cahill: I think with anyone who likes to be in control and on top of things, being incapacitated is the worst.

Deb: Crankyjules says, “Hi Eddie. We've seen quite a few interesting moments of conflict between Flack & Mac this season. Compelling to watch - you two really bounce off each other in those scenes. Are we likely to see more of that, or has any tension between the two been resolved?”

Eddie Cahill: Thank you. I think the tension between Mac and Flack was work related and not personal. That being said, what I loved about it was that we realized that these two men approach the same job with different ideas.

Eddie Cahill: And it wasn't about one of us being right or wrong.

Eddie Cahill: So we may see more.

Kristine: Shelbers would like to know about the movie you did with Hill (Harper) and Carmine (Giovinazzo) – “This Is Not a Test”. What is it about and who do you play?

Eddie Cahill: It's a movie that Hill produced and stars in. Simply put, it's about a man who becomes somewhat paralyzed by his intense concern for potential disasters ... i.e., a terrorist attack or natural disaster.

Eddie Cahill: And I play a motivational speaker who preaches “preparedness.”

Deb: Detdonflackjr wants to know what shows you enjoy besides CSI:NY.

Eddie Cahill: I watch a lot of hockey.

Kristine: Rangers? ;)

Eddie Cahill: Oh most definitely.

Eddie Cahill: I got a kick out of extras this season.

Eddie Cahill: Tom needs to relax.

Kristine: Pretty Eyes would like to know if you prefer the tension filled scenes or the snarkier ones for Flack?

Eddie Cahill: I like them both for different reasons. The snarky ones are satisfying to play, but through tension I have learned a lot about Flack.

Deb: Miss Kraft says: Mr. Cahill, it is quite clear that Det. Flack's loyalties are torn between his Captain and the CSI team (Raising Shane). Do you believe this makes your character stronger, or will it be his ruin?

Eddie Cahill: :)

Eddie Cahill: I don't think it will ever be a question of ruin. What I enjoy about what's happened this year is that we've seen that sometimes you work with folks who do things differently and that's not always a recipe for disasters.

Eddie Cahill: But certainly makes for some great dramatic moments.

Kristine: CSI808 would like to know if we're ever going to get to see Flack play basketball. Are you good at the game?

Eddie Cahill: Good is such a strong word. Basketball was never my strong point, but I can make my way around the court if I have to.

Deb: Lookaboomerang wants to know your thoughts on Danny and Lindsay's relationship.

Eddie Cahill: What about it?

Kristine: Many have asked if you think it's good for the show or not?

Kristine: Romance on a forensics drama in general, and Danny and Lindsay specifically.

Kristine: It's a bit controversial among fans.

Eddie Cahill: Oh. Yeah, I think it's good to breathe some life like that into the show. I think it's been an interesting potential that has carried itself till now.

Eddie Cahill: I don't think Flack would be so patient though.

Eddie Cahill: Yes, no, yes, no, yes, no ... not for me.

Kristine: LOL! Don't blame you. ;) Many have asked if Flack will be getting a love interest!

Kristine: Do you think that's in his future?

Eddie Cahill: Your guess is as good as mine. I think at this point it might be too much for the show.

Eddie Cahill: But I'm open to love.

Eddie Cahill: Any suggestions who could play the part?

Deb: GsrLOVE asks: Can you tell us what it's like backstage? Is it hectic or do you guys have a little fun and play around?

Eddie Cahill: We may have too much fun.

Eddie Cahill: It get hectic at times, but we're not air traffic controllers...

Eddie Cahill: And we're a jokey group.

Kristine: Faylinn says the fans have a love/hate relationship with Flack's suit/tie/shirt combos. What do you think of the wardrobe they choose for Flack?

Eddie Cahill: :)

Eddie Cahill: You ain't the only ones.

Kristine: LOL! :) So...?

Eddie Cahill: But I kind of love it...

Eddie Cahill: Not always from a fashion point of view...but it's Flack.

Eddie Cahill: And I'm certainly glad it's not a leather coat.

Kristine: You don't miss the coat?

Eddie Cahill: I miss it. But I wore that thing everywhere.

Eddie Cahill: Everywhere.

Deb: Mozza-Rellaaaa says: Hi Eddie, what's your biggest pet peeve?

Eddie Cahill: I hate being late.

Kristine: Elsie says Flack is awesome, but if you could play another character in the show, who would it be?

Eddie: Flack.

Kristine: Not Stella?

Kristine: ;)

Eddie Cahill: If I had enough to drink, maybe.

Eddie Cahill: I don't have to say big words.

Eddie Cahill: What's not to love?

Kristine: Ahhh, that does make sense.

Kristine: But if you had to?

Kristine: Had to pick one?

Eddie Cahill: If I knew I could be as dynamic as Bob Joy, I'd go for the M.E.

Deb: Indy wants to know if the writers are going to let us know some secrets about Flack?

Eddie Cahill: I hope so. I think eventually, but I don't know of any plans at this point.

Kristine: FLACK_ATTACK is a five year cancer survivor who is planning on getting a tattoo to celebrate her survival. She would like to know a little about your tattoos and ask if you had any recommendations on a tattoo for her!

Eddie Cahill: One of mine is a celebration of a cancer survivor who is very near and dear to me. I like the classic American style. Take a look at the show Miami Ink. Kat Von D. is a fantastic artist.

Eddie Cahill: And good on you.

Eddie Cahill: Pick one you love ... you can always get another. That's my advice.

Teej123: Mine is a simple one on my arm. I designed a heart with a detailed leafy vine wrapping around it twice.

Eddie Cahill: Right on.

Teej123: Simple and poignant.

Deb: Hungry4TheWolfe says: Hi Eddie! Since I'm studying for a neuroanatomy test, have you learned any anatomy or medical terms/procedures for the show?

Eddie Cahill: What did I tell you about big words?

Eddie Cahill: A couple, but I certainly can't spell them.

Kristine: JDonne would like to know if you feel the problems from season two have been adequately resolved in season three or do you feel there is still work to be done?

Eddie Cahill: I think the show has evolved nicely, but there is always more to strive for. We've tried some things that work and some that don't. In time you hope that you land on the side of what works more often than not.

Deb: Miss Kraft asks the question we've inflicted on all other actors brave enough to chat with us -- boxers or briefs?

Tbonz: I knew someone would ask ;)

Eddie Cahill. Both.

Eddie Cahill: Not at the same time.

Kristine: Detective Curtis wants to know if you have a favorite other main character to do scenes with?

Eddie Cahill: I get to bounce around a lot. I like getting a bit of everyone.

Deb: Flacklover wants to know if there is anything you would change about Flack, if you could?

Eddie Cahill: I don't think about him that way.

Kristine: Kati would like to know what scene you had the most fun filming?

Eddie Cahill: I just shot a scene with a good friend of mine, and that was special.

Kristine: Who was that?

Eddie Cahill: The magic shop manager in the Criss Angel ep.

Kristine: Oh, cool! That was a great scene. :)

Eddie Cahill: Thanks.

Kristine: How are you doing? How much longer would you like to go?

Eddie Cahill: I gotta get to dinner.

Kristine: Do you have time for one more question, or would you like to go now?

Eddie Cahill: I'm good for a couple of minutes.

Deb: CalleighWolfe wants to know where your tattoos are? What are they?

Eddie Cahill: Hmmmm.....

Eddie Cahill: One day, maybe.

Deb: Tease. ;)

Eddie Cahill: Someone's gotta be.

Deb: LOL.

Kristine: :D

Kristine: OK, well, that's it for tonight! Eddie, thank you so much for joining us, and for your patience tonight!

Tbonz: Thanks Eddie.

Eddie Cahill: My pleasure. Thank you.

Deb: Thanks Eddie!

Kristine: We'll turn off moderation so everyone can say thanks!

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
