The death of a CSI, putrefaction, and drinking problems are just some of the things the Miami, New York, and Las Vegas CSIs will be facing when the CSI shows premiere the week of September 20th.

Entertainment Weekly (via Elyse's CSI Site) revealed details about the upcoming episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami and CSI: New York in its Fall TV Preview issue. EW mentioned the loss of a castmember in CSI: Miami, which premieres September 20th-- Rory Cochrane (story) --whose character Tim Speedle will be killed off in the first episode; Jonathan Togo will be stepping in to replace Cochrane. Horatio Caine will finally tell his sister-in-law, Yelina, that her husband is the father of five-year-old Madison.

Miami's executive producer, Ann Donoghue noted that the , while the animosity between Rick Stetler, the internal affairs officer dating Yelina, and Horatio will reach a boiling point. "These two go at it, and at the end there's a shoot-out. We're going to carry it over the full season, and probably there will be some violent resolution," she said.

EW produced a four-page article on CSI: New York, which kicks off its freshman season on September 22nd. The cast of the show posed for photos in 1940s style clothes in a bathroom (with a bathtub filled with bloody water) and a hotel room. The article mentioned that both Gary Sinise's Mac Taylor and Melina Kanakaredes's Stella Bonasera are haunted by the deaths of loved ones--Mac by his wife's death in the attacks on the World Trade Center towers on 9/11, and Stella by the unsolved murder of her father.

New York's lab will feature a reconstruction room where the CSIs can use weapons to actually re-enact the crime. At least one of the cast members, Eddie Cahill (Don Flack), has done his homework: he looked up the word 'putrefaction' on the internet. "It came up with pictures. That was the most grossed out I've been," Cahill revealed.

The fifth season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation debuts on September 23rd, and will deal with Sara Sidle's (Jorja Fox) near-arrest for DUI at the end of the fourth season. She's not drinking because of Grissom and it has been indicated previously that viewers might learn more about Sara's past. Additionally, the "blue paint killer" from season three will make another appearance.
