A bridge collapses. A young boy is kidnapped. A shoot-out in a jewelry store. Welcome to CSI: Miami's third season.

Sources today revealed the first plot details for the third-season premiere, reportedly entitled "Lost Son". The episode opens with a young couple driving across a bridge on their way to the Florida Keys. Their journey abruptly comes to an end when a large yacht slams into one of the bridge's support poles, causing the middle of the structure to collapse and sending the couple and their car into the water. The couple survive, but the captain of the yacht isn't so lucky.

His name is Richard Williams. Middle-aged. Wealthy. And, as it turns out, he was already dead. Gunshot to the head. When Horatio and Yelina pay a visit to his much younger widow, Terry Williams, she assumes they've come about their son. She's devastated when they tell her Richard has been killed. It turns out their six-year-old son, Matthew, was taken from his martial arts class and the kidnappers demanded $3 million in jewels as ransom. Richard was to hand over the jewels on the yacht. Obviously the meeting did not go well.

The CSIs soon discover why the handover went awry. The diamonds which Richard Williams was using as the ransom were fake. Terry Williams is shocked: she says all their jewelry is genuine and no one else had access to it, except for their diamond cleaners, McCauley Jewelers.

Horatio and Speedle head over to the jewelers to check things out. They're greeted by the new owner, Rudy Solvenko. He's polite, too polite, and seems to be warning the staff that police officers have arrived. Speedle moves past Rudy into the store, his hand on his gun. He won't leave the jewelry shop without having to use it...

Please note that these plot details have not yet been confirmed by Alliance Atlantis or Bruckheimer Films and until such time you should treat this information as you would any other rumour from an unofficial source. The information comes from an early draft of the script and aspects of the episode may change before it goes to air.

"Lost Son" is set to air in late September, 2004.

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
