This week, the CSI franchise is airing three new episodes, including the return of Horatio's son and a crossover with another CBS show.

CSI: Miami starts out the week with "Chain Reaction", and Kyle Harmon is back:

When a model is electrocuted on the runway, the case leads Horatio back to his son and his nemesis.

This is the 22 episode of Miami directed by Scott Lautanen, who also directed three episodes of CSI: New York, the latest being season three's "Oedipus Hex". Brian Davidson has written eight previous episodes of Miami, "Bang Bang, Your Debt" being the most recent. Corey Evett and Matt Partney have written two other episodes of the show together, including this season's "Cyber-lebrity".

"Chain Reaction" contains the following actors and actresses in guest-starring roles:

  • David Lee Smith as Rick Stetler
  • Christina Chang as Rebecca Nevins
  • Evan Ellingson as Kyle Harmon
  • John Sharian as Joe LeBrock
  • Aries Spears as Oscar Monahan
  • Steve Toussaint as Judge Hugo Kemp
  • Adrian Wilson as Gavin Hauer
  • Greg Rikaart as Scott LeBrock
  • Helen Tucker as Alisha Reilly
  • Chris Tardio as Terrence Kerr
  • Matthew Del Negro as Mike Farallon
  • Helena Mattsson as Juliana Ravez
  • Rylan Williams as Guard
  • Kristin Malia as Fashion Reporter
  • Hoyt Richards as Richie Rick
  • Anya Monzikova as Richie Rita
  • Vincent M. Ward as Marshall Abrams
  • Frankie Rodriguez as Juan Cavanas
  • Matt Doherty as Corey Burton

David Lee Smith and Christina Chang are reprising established roles on the show. Evan Ellingson returns as Horatio's son Kyle. John Sharian, Aries Spears and Steve Toussaint all appeared in the Miami episode "Inside Out", which aired earlier this season. Chris Tardio was in the CSI: NY episode "On the Job". Helena Mattsson was also on New York, in "City of the Dolls". Vincent M. Ward was in "Viva Las Vegas" during CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's fifth season.

On Wednesday, CSI: New York airs "Commuted Sentences", in which sexual predators are targeted:

Mac and the team find a man stabbed to death in Madison Square Park and a woman shot dead on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art . and they soon realize that the two victims have a criminal past in common.

Oz Scott has directed five previous episodes of New York, including this season's "The Deep". "Commuted Sentences" is John Dove's third episode of New York. The last episode he wrote was "Sleight Out of Hand" in season three. New York fans might recognize Dove from his appearances on the show as Detective John Scagnetti, aka "Detective Prada" ("Grand Murder at Central Station"), during the show's second season.

The following actors and actresses will guest-star in "Commuted Sentences":

  • Robert Joy as Dr. Sid Hammerback
  • AJ Buckley as Adam Ross
  • Emmanuelle Vaugier as Det. Jessica Angell
  • Jenny J. Wade as Fern Lazlow
  • Chris Gann as Mitchell Bentley
  • Suzanne Reed as Joanna Morgan
  • Bess Wohl as Kendall Novak
  • Robert Tena as Larry Diaz
  • Lauren Stamile as Amber Stanton
  • Dax Griffin as Steve Kaplan

Robert Joy and Emmanuelle Vaugier are reprising established roles on the show. AJ Buckley, who was listed in the series regular cast list for the past two weeks, has been flip-flopped back into the recurring section despite the announcement earlier this year that he had been signed on as a series regular. Bess Wohl is returning as Kendall Novak, the new lab tech who first appeared in this season's premiere, "Can You Hear Me Now?". Suzanne Reed previously appeared on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in "Pirates of the Third Reich". Lauren Stamile was in the CSI: Miami episode "Spring Break". Dax Griffin has appeared on both Miami ("After the Fall") and the original CSI ("Organ Grinder").

Rounding out the week is CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which is airing the first part of a crossover with Without a Trace, "Who and What", to be immediately followed by the conclusion on WaT:

In Part One of a Two-Part crossover episode to conclude on Without A Trace, a kidnap victim from New York who went missing six years ago may be the same boy whose death Grissom and the CSI team are investigating in Las Vegas.

Kenneth Fink has directed 41 previous episodes of CSI, his last episode being this season's premiere, "Dead Doll". "Dead Doll" also featured Allen MacDonald as a writer and was the seventh episode he'd written for the show. Naren Shankar, like Fink and MacDonald, worked on "Dead Doll". Co-writing "Who and What" brings his total number of episodes of CSI to 31.

The following people will appear in this episode as recurring and guest stars:

  • David Berman as David Phillips
  • Archie Kao as Archie Johnson
  • Liz Vassey as Wendy Simms
  • Anthony LaPaglia as Jack Malone
  • Kim Beuche as Carmen Davis
  • Brett Coker as Evan Michaels
  • Denis O'Hare as Tom Michaels
  • Dig Wayne as Paul Fournier
  • John Hawkes as Terry Wicker
  • A.J. Noel as Soccer Player
  • Tom Katsis as Bloody Man
  • Anthony Ruivivar as Det. Ruben Bejarano
  • Nicole Cannon as Floor Manager
  • Muse Watson as Station Yard Controller
  • Jasper Cole as Hobo
  • Nathan Gamble as Kobe
  • Sarah Danielle Madison as Gina Farentino

David Berman, Archie Kao and Liz Vassey are all reprising established roles on the show. Anthony LaPaglia makes a special appearance as Jack Malone, the character he plays on Without a Trace. Dig Wayne appeared in a previous episode of CSI, "Premum Non Nocere", as a different character. None of the other guest stars have appeared in the CSI franchise before.

"Chain Reaction", "Commuted Sentences" and "Who and What" begin airing November 5 on CBS.

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
