It's time for women to deFINE their destiny.

After the success of Letters to a Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny, CSI: New York star Hill Harper (Dr. Sheldon Hawkes) set out to write a second book, this time targeting a female audience. Letters to a Young Sister: DeFINE Your Destiny was released on June 3 and is available in stores. Gabrielle Union wrote the forward for the book, and other contributors include Michelle Obama, Alfre Woodard, Angela Bassett and Ciara.

Harper utilized this group of "surrogate sister-friends", along with some "really smart brothers", to share wisdom, experiences and advice with young women about important issues. The book covers such topics as body image, peer pressure, sexism, relationships, finances and career choices. While on tour promoting Letters to a Young Brother, Harper noticed that a lot of women came to see him and to hear him speak. "Certainly, they, like the brothers, were there to hear me say to them that their lives, goals, and dreams do matter," he wrote in the introduction for Letters to a Young Sister. "But also many of the sisters showed up to offer support and encouragement for what I was doing for young brothers. This book, in turn, is my effort to lift up women as so many women have lifted me."

As with the first book, Harper will be promoting Letters to a Young Sister by getting out there and spreading the word. He will have a book-signing event in Chicago on June 20. The actor will also be attending the Sisterhood Showcase in Memphis, Tennessee this weekend, where he will read excerpts from his book, answer questions and sign copies of Letters to a Young Sister.

Information about Letters to a Young Sister is from Black Voices. More details about the book-signing in Chicago can be found at eFete. The news that Harper will be attending the Sisterhood Showcase is from Commercial Appeal. You can purchase Letters to a Young Sister from Amazon.com, Amazon.ca or Amazon.co.uk--or check out your local bookstore.

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
