Rex Linn Will Do Anything To Remain On 'CSI: Miami'

With all these rumors about moles dead characters on CSI: Miami, Rex Linn (Det. Frank Tripp) is understandably walking on pins and needles.

The actor revealed to the Miami Herald recently he's one of the actors praying his character doesn't get axed. "I try to do everything I can to stay on the show," he said. "I love the show. But yeah, there are those paranoid moments when you open up a script and say, 'God, I hope I don't get run over by a milk truck this week.'"

Linn's so determined to stay on the show, he's created an entire background for his character and the writers. During the second season, fans saw Frank Tripp hit a rocky patch in his marriage when his wife suspected him of cheating on her and hired an agency to confirm or deny her suspicions. The audience wondered what became of Tripp's marriage after that, and Linn decided to give them the answers.

"I just took off my wedding ring and started doing scenes without it," he said. "Toward the end of the first episode, a producer noticed it. 'Where's your ring?' she asked me. 'I'm divorced,' I told her. 'I moved out of the house into an apartment.' 'Umm, maybe you should put the ring back on and we'll try to work around what we've already shot,' she said. I told her, 'That's a lot of footage to work around -- I've been shooting seven days without it.' And nothing more was ever said."

Being the detective on the show means having to be the first person there after a body has been discovered, which isn't always a desirable job, even if it's fiction. "We romanticize [crime scene investigation] in the show, but it's tricky work. And it's gross, too."
