Horatio's past collides with his present.

According to CSI Files sources, "Raising Caine" begins with a soaring view of Miami, rushing toward a deserted island in the Florida Keys. There is a pristine view of the beach as a number of well-dressed men and women enjoy the view. However, they aren't standing in the sand. Instead, they are gathered in front of an enormous video wall in the Winston mansion.

The lady of the house, and the hostess of this event, is Julia Winston. The beautiful woman describes the island, called Windsail Key, which one of them can purchase. Private coves, hot springs and a state-of-the-art mansion are all part of the package. One of the guests tells Julia that they will all have to see the island before they know if they want to purchase it, and Julia informs the group that they will be leaving the next morning to visit the Key and have a look around.

The gathering then breaks into smaller groups, and a young man named Paul approaches Julia, offering to write her a check on the spot for forty million dollars. Julia turns him down with grace, telling him that she's not going to make a deal with someone before the others have even seen the property. He suggests that they take the issue to Bill, Julia's husband. Julia is sarcastic about the insinuation that Bill would approve the plan, but she offers to fetch him. Leaving Paul with the rest of the group, Julia heads to the mansion's office

Meanwhile, in the office, Bill Winston is looking at a wedding photo of himself with Julia and puts it down when he hears a sound at the door. He tells the person to wait and that he'll be out in a minute. When he continues to hear noise, he gets impatient. The door creaks, and he readies for a fight. Suddenly, a shot rings out.

Horatio Caine and Frank Tripp meet at the scene. Bill Winston was shot through the chest, and Pamela Mills found the body and called it in. The young woman explains that she takes care of things for the Winstons when they are in Miami. She says that Julia Winston sells high-end real estate, and that day's event was organized to sell an island to billionaires from around the world. Pamela admits that she doesn't know the buyers at all, but she does not believe that any of them could be killers.

When Horatio sees Julia Winston, it is obvious that they know each other well. It has been a long time since they have seen each other. Frank asks Horatio if he knows Julia, and Horatio tells him the truth: she is Kyle's mother. The reunion between Horatio and Julia is bittersweet. Julia finally knows Horatio's real name, and Horatio finally knows the truth about why Julia left him. She tells him that she did not want to burden him with a child and that she left Kyle in her mother's care when he was a baby. She wanted to create stability for herself before taking him back. By the time she went to get her son, Kyle had already been swallowed up by the system. Horatio has to tell Julia that their child is in jail.

Horatio must try to balance his professional and personal commitments as they begin to collide. During the investigation into the death of Bill Winston, the team discovers that he had been planning to leave Julia. Horatio looks at the annulment document and sees that Bill had discovered Julia's false identities and that he knew she had a child. Julia had been lying to Bill, and Bill was planning to publicly cut her off without a penny the day he was killed. Lipstick on the document tells them that Julia knew what was coming.

With his ex now a suspect, Horatio has to find her before he can discover what part she may have played in the death of her husband. Did she kill him to prevent him from filing the annulment? Horatio can guess where she is, and he finds her at the detention center, knotting a tie around Kyle's neck. He is preparing for the trial that will decide his fate, and Julia promises him that she will not leave him again. Horatio tells Julia that they need to talk and that it cannot wait. Once outside, Horatio asks an officer to search Julia's car. Julia admits that she knew about the annulment, but she denies killing her husband. She looks surprised when the officer finds a gun under the seat of the car.

Why can't the CSIs get dates?
All work and no play makes Greg a blue boy.
It probably has something to do with the fact that every time Horatio Caine has sex with a woman, she dies.
Shower sex loses its allure when there's lemons involved.
These people collect body fluids for a living. Then again, if David the coroner can get laid...
They can get dates, I bet. We just don't see it.
Three words: Hank the Skank.
