Last night's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode attracted larger overnight ratings than the season premiere.

"All For Our Country", the continuation of "Assume Nothing", scored a 20.0 rating / 28 share, Mediaweek reported. This means approximately 20.0 percent of American households with television sets were tuned into CSI, while the episode was viewed by 28 percent of households watching television at the time.

This represented a 5 percent hike in the overnight ratings figures from the season premiere, which went on to achieve a final rating of 17.2/26, representing 27 million viewers (story). Based on these numbers "All For Our Country" should gain a slightly larger audience when the national ratings are released next week.

CSI bested NBC's second-place comedies Will & Grace (13.2/19) and Coupling (9.8/14) by 74 percent, leaving Grissom and company the undisputed victors of the hour. ABC's Extreme Makeover came in third at 9:00 p.m. with a 6.9/4 followed by FOX, UPN and the WB.

In the ongoing ER-Without a Trace 10:00 p.m. wrangle, the medical drama emerged victorious with a 16.2/24. But Jack Malone and the FBI team were hot on their heels, with their 12.4/19 representing a 33 percent gain on ER since this time last year.

CBS won the night overall with a 15.0/22, followed by close rival NBC (14.3/21). FOX was third, scoring a 7.2/10, with ABC (5.9/9), UPN (3.9/6) and the WB (2.3/3) bringing up the rear.

Overnight ratings are the calculated from the top 47 television markets metered by Nielsen. The final national ratings should be available early next week. The complete ratings report is available here at Mediaweek.
